About BricksMarket
Built by a LEGO fan, for LEGO fans
Dear LEGO community,
My name is Rodrigo. I'm a Brazilian tech entrepreneur who has been building LEGO for over 30 years.
It all started in 1993 with a single set: the LEGO 6268 Renegade Runner. A modest pirate ship—178 pieces, 4 minifigures. It wasn't the grand 912-piece flagship that some kids had. But to me, it was everything. That smaller ship sparked something that would last a lifetime.
Three decades later, I still build. My favorites? Pirates of Barracuda Bay, Rivendell, and the Lion Knights' Castle. Each one reminds me why I fell in love with these bricks in the first place.
But this letter isn't just about me. It's about a dream.
In 2000, a fellow LEGO fan named Dan Jezek built something remarkable. He dreamed of a marketplace dedicated entirely to LEGO—a place where fans like us could connect, buy, sell, and share our passion. He called it BrickBay, later renamed BrickLink.
Dan's creation brought happiness to LEGO lovers around the world. It became one of the most successful websites on the internet. Tragically, Dan passed away in 2010 at just 33 years old. But his dream lived on—carried forward by his parents and a community that loved what he built.
Today, that dream needs new caretakers. BrickLink is leaving 35 countries behind. Sellers in Brazil, India, Indonesia, and dozens of other nations are being told they're no longer welcome.
That's why I'm building BricksMarket.
Not to compete with Dan's legacy—but to continue it. A marketplace built by a LEGO fan, for LEGO fans. One that welcomes builders from everywhere. One that remembers why we do this in the first place: for the love of the brick.
I hope you'll join me.
